Award winning communications agency: The need for a diverse business

Rich Visions, an integrated communications agency specialising in reaching out diverse and ethnic communities as well as mainstream audiences, has stated the importance of diversifying business.

Marketing Manager Delali Foli explains,

‘Diversity is a good thing for all businesses, not just specifically for black businesses. Every ambitious business wants to be high profile, wants their target audience to know where they are and how to find them.

‘Black owned businesses sometimes “play it safe” and stick with what they know, instead of taking calculated business risks or seizing opportunities when the present themselves by being reactive instead of proactive.

‘There definitely needs to be greater diversification amongst black owned businesses as it’s essential for survival and success, especially in tough economic times such as these.’

Rich Visions: Champions Diversity in Business

When set up in 2002, their main mission was to take communications to the next level with an approach to reach any target audience. Over the past seven years, they have worked with an impressive range of clientele, which have included the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UN, Transport for London, HSBC and the Metropolitan Police.

Recently, they were hired by the Anthony Nolan Trust to inform men from ethnic minorities between the ages of 18 and 30 about the need of signing up to be a blood stem cell donor.

In addition, they are currently working with Hackney Empire and Rifco Arts to promote Britain’s first ‘Bhangra’ musical.

Delali adds, ‘At the start of the recession it did become clear to us that we would have to further diversify our service offerings in order to compete in our sector and to survive. As ethnic and diversity specialists naturally, we encourage diversity within agencies, companies and organisations.

‘We show organisations how they could be missing out on valuable and profitable audiences by not dealing effectively or sensitively with niche and ethnic audiences.

‘We’ve discovered a lot of the time, organisations just don’t know how to go about communicating effectively with hard-to-reach audiences and this is where we step in to assist.’
